Featured Golf Kelowna Hole – Hole #1 at Gallagher’s Canyon

Hole #1 at Gallagher’s Canyon…
Is our signature hole for many reasons, to start with the iconic opening tee shot that is directly below our patio. It is an elevated tee shot into a demanding fairway that must be hit.

Hole #1 is also rated as the hardest hole at Gallagher’s Canyon for multiple reasons, apart from the demanding tee shot, the length of this par 4 requires a drive of at least 285 yards from the Gold Tee box to allow for an approach shot of 150 yards. That approach shot into the elevated green forces the golfer to add yardage and ensure the golf ball can carry onto the green, with the elevated green for the approach and having the golf ball hold and stop on this green is also a challenge. Having a birdie putt on the opening hole is not a guarantee.

Once on the green, the putting surface itself has a few subtle slopes that can be difficult to read for any golfer. Two putts or less on this green may make this the toughest part of the opening hole. If you make a par on the 1st hole at Gallagher’s Canyon, feel excited to have conquered the challenge. Moving onto the rest of the course may seem easier but do not let your guard down as there are quite a few more challenges to come.

Hole #1 – 434 yards Par 4
