If you are looking for a course that can test golfers of all ability, look no further than Shannon Lake Golf Club. This is especially true when it comes to the featured #8 hole at Shannon Lake.
Members at the club refer to the final three holes of the front 9 as Shannon Lake’s very own “Amen Corner” as it marks a stretch of very difficult golf holes. Nestled in the middle of “Amen Corner” is the beautiful signature hole; the 405-yard, par 4, 8th.
While you summon your courage on the tee, be sure to admire the beautiful backdrop. With scenic Shannon Lake bordering the length of the hole and resident bald eagles towering in the sky, it is easy to get distracted.
This long risk/ reward par 4 requires a tee shot to carry over water to a very narrow landing area. Water to the right and bunkers to the left means there is no room for error here. If you managed your best tee shot you are now presented with a difficult approach shot; with water short and a steep embankment long, there is again little margin for error.
Long, difficult, and stunning, the 8th hole at Shannon Lake Golf Club is sure to be a challenging and memorable test on the course.
